I am a little late since Thanksgiving has come and gone, but I decided to write a post about what I am thankful for (equestrian-wise). I am not a big Thanksgiving person, but I do believe that gratitude is very important. I am very blessed in my riding life, although some days I can lose sight of it – getting caught up in what I do not have. So here goes…
I am thankful for the first moment I ever sat on a horse.
I am thankful for learning how to ride.
I am thankful for the horses I have owned.
For all of the shows I have been to, and all the ribbons I have won.
For the trainers I have worked with.
For the jobs I have had, riding and teaching lessons.
For all the horses I have ridden, good and bad.
For learning how to train horses.
And for all of the struggles I have had – falls, lost ribbons, and disappointments – because they made the rider I am today.
I am thankful for my current horse, Chance, and all that he has taught me the past few years.
Lastly, I am thankful that, at twenty-five, horses are still a huge part of my life. I feel so fortunate that I am able to ride nearly every day, and that I never gave up my passion.
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!
