Since joining Beachbody, I have been doing a workout called Piyo. Piyo combines yoga and Pilates for a low impact workout workout that uses your own body weight to sculpt and strengthen your muscles, as well as increase your flexibility. It is amazing! I have practiced yoga for years, and adding piyo into my routine has actually deepened my yoga practice as well as given me more strength and definition! I really think that flexibility and strength go hand in hand when it comes to fitness; and are so very important for riders.
So, I have decided to run a piyo and meditation challenge next month and I want to invite you all to join me! I will have an accountability group on Facebook that will run from September 5th to October 5th. Accountability is so helpful when trying to change your habits, or stay consistent in a fitness routine!
Now where does meditation come in? Even just five minutes a day can help to keep anxiety and stress levels down, which especially important for riders! We live in such a fast-paced, busy society that we can all use a little peace right? Stress and horses do not mix. They feel everything we feel, and they can even absorb it. A calm, steady mind is absolutely essential for riders. Meditation is also not nearly as complicated as you may think, and it’s not just for yoga-doing hippies either, I promise. I will be providing tips on starting a daily meditation practice throughout this challenge!
