“If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in His love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that joy might be full.” – John 15:10-11
My journey through the Book of John continues. I’m far from a Biblical scholar, but to me these verses say that we should have joy in following Jesus and keeping His commandments! As we will be in His love. And again, following Him requires action – not just saying we are Christians. But continuous action. We have to actually follow Him! That action is possible though because of His love. His love makes me want to follow Him, and honor Him in the things that I do. Spending time in the Word again has truly been changing everything, as it always does.
I almost feel like I’m starting my walk with Christ all over again, even though I have been on it for over ten years. But believing in Jesus, and following Him, are two different things. To follow Him, I must live for Him and I can’t really say that I’ve been doing that the past couple of years. Not really. He’s hasn’t been the center of my life.
The thing is though, is that it’s never too late! He’s always here waiting for me, and trying to pull me back. Of that, I have always been sure! Getting back in the Word has been the first step to really getting back on my walk with Him. Making the time, instead of making excuses, has made all of the difference. It is easy to get caught up in life, and not make time for the most important things, but I have to no matter what.
