This morning I woke up yet again to the sound of rain and thunder with bright flashes of lightening illuminating my bedroom. I was immediately in a bad mood. Another day of no riding. Another day Chance and I fall behind. So much for the show I was planning to go to this weekend. As I waited for my coffee to brew, I saw on the news how much flooding there is in Texas right now. Just last weekend, I was in North Texas where I saw the horrific damage done by recent tornadoes. Between the flooding and tornadoes, people have lost their homes, cars, and lives. What have I lost? A couple of horse shows and a few weeks of riding. I am very fortunate that I have not been terribly affected by the recent Texas storms, they have been a mere annoyance more than anything. But so many others, who are not so far from me, have been. It is so easy to take things for granted when I am wrapped up in my own little world, but realizing that so many of my fellow Texans are truly suffering snapped back to reality. I pray that these storms end soon.
It seems like horse show after horse show is getting rained out, but good reminder that we are very lucky compared to some.
