I am trying this new thing of planning out my week each Monday, and setting intentions and goals for the different areas of my life. Some of my goals for this week include waking up earlier to get my workouts in before I head to the barn, stay organized with my schedule, and be more in sync with Chance. Even though it is still pretty warm here in Texas, Chance was wild last week. I know that it is because he feels a shift in the weather coming. It is understandable for him to be a little frisky, however, I just did not handle it as well as I could have last week. I think the busyness of life had me a little distracted, so my mind was not as clear and focused on my riding. We were out of sync, and I made a ton of silly mistakes.
But, I know that I can do better this week! I think waking up earlier so that I am not rushing through my morning will help a lot; as well as working out before I ride. Working out always helps me to clear my head. Taking care of our mental state is vital in this sport!
As my life grows busier, I am determined to not allow it to negatively impact my riding so I am trying my best to learn how to better manage my time. Working from home has many benefits, but one downside is that I have no one telling me what to do when – I must figure it out myself. Some days I end up just running around in circles. That frazzled state really does not do me any favors with my hot, sensitive Thoroughbred! I am working on that though! Sometimes that is all we can do.
What about you? Do you have any goals or intentions for this week?
