I took this photo at brunch on Sunday. I had an omelet with spinach and fresh herbs, with breakfast potatoes and gluten free toast. I also had a soy chai! This was at a restaurant called Hubbell and Hudson. The meal was simple and delicious, and healthy.
Healthy eating is over-complicated these days. There are so many options: vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, paleo, raw foods, fat free, sugar free, low carb, and the list goes on and on! Here’s the thing… There is no one right way to eat healthy! There are many ways of eating that can help you to be healthier. Also, everyone’s body is different. One person may thrive on a vegan diet, while another may thrive eating paleo.
There is also such an emphasis placed on what we shouldn’t eat, rather than all of the wonderful foods that we can and should eat. Instead of thinking that we must deprive ourselves in order to eat well, let’s have the mindset that we are treating ourselves to beautiful foods that will do wonderful things for us.
Personally, I think that if you choose to eat primarily natural, whole foods you will be on the right track. Eat a lot of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish, eggs, organic meats (if you’re into that 😉 ) and you will feel and see results within your body. Eating healthy doesn’t mean we must subsist solely on nuts and berries. If we focus on natural, whole foods that nourish us, and give us strength and energy, we will find that eating well isn’t so hard at all! And it can also be quite delicious! Eat simple foods. Healthy eating is eating simply.
