Healthy Snacking

Are you a snacker? I sure am! Salty snacks are my favorite. Potato chips are my weakness. While I will never give them up completely, I am trying to have healthier and more nutrient-dense snacks. So, I decided to come up with a blog featuring some of my favorite healthy snacks. Believe me, I still indulge in some unhealthy snacks but I definitely feel so much better when I stick to the healthy stuff!

Fresh fruit

Fresh fruit is an obvious choice. Fruit provides so many nutrients, and is a good source of carbohydrates and fiber. It also can help to satisfy a sweet tooth! My favorite fruit is pineapple, but I have also recently been obsessed with oranges! Cherries and peaches are also fabulous this time of year. Grapes are super easy to take along when you’re on the go. I often pack them in my work or school lunches.

Veggies and hummus

You really can’t go wrong with veggies and hummus. Veggies provide fiber, and tons of nutrients, while hummus gives you your healthy fat and a little protein. I LOVE the Lantana hummus flavors. The one pictured here is the sriracha carrot. They also have a black bean, yellow lentil, and edamame flavors that are all so good! My favorite veggies for dipping in hummus are baby carrots, cucumber, celery, and mini peppers. I find that these veggies are less messy, and thus easier to take on the go than broccoli and cauliflower.

Nuts

Nuts are great if you have a potato chip obsession like I do. Salted nuts provide a great alternative. Though high in calories, nuts are a good source of fat, protein, and other nutrients. The calories you get from eating nuts are not empty like those from chips. If you have weight loss goals, I just suggest watching your portions. Nuts are very filling though, so that usually isn’t too hard! These pineapple habanero almond from Simple Truth are a new favorite of mine! I also love salted cashews, pistachios, and nut mixes. Plain nuts are of course a little better for you than the salted, or flavored, ones. I really like plain almonds and walnuts, but this time of year I really need the extra salt with all the running!

Beachbody® Snacks

Some of my other go-to healthy snacks are Beachbody® products! I love my Shakeology smoothies of course to get some extra protein, and a good helping of superfoods. I take them on the go with me to work, school, and around the farm. I also have been loving Beachbars. Beachbars are Beachbody®’s granola bars. They have a few different flavors, my favorite is the peanut butter and chocolate flavor. I mean, you can’t go wrong with peanut butter and chocolate!

Happy snacking, y’all!
