As promised in my last post, I am going to give an update of what the heck has been going on with me and my horses. For starters, we moved. My parents sold their farm, I moved to an apartment, and the boys moved to a boarding facility. It has been a big change, and while they are at a lovely farm, not a day goes by that I don’t miss the farm and having them right outside my door.
It has been an adjustment going back to boarding. While it certainly is less work, I do not get to see them seven days a week and that has been probably the most difficult thing to adjust to. I also have been adjusting back to the “city life.” Living in an apartment after living on a farm is definitely different. I miss getting to see my horses from the window, and doing all of their day to day care.
On the bright side, I have been able to get back into training/lessons which has been very helpful. And Flynn loves getting to go into the barn to get tacked up. He has made friends, and even has a crush on one of the mares. Chance has made friends too from the pasture. He is much more relaxed when I pull Flynn out to ride him because their next door pasture has several mares, and he loves having all the ladies to himself!
It has definitely been a bittersweet adjustment, like most things you could say. But as long as my horses are happy, I’m happy! Here are some pictures of them at their new home.
