“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I – I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.” ~Robert Frost, The Road Not Taken
Robert Frost really just describes my life in this poem! I definitely did not take a “normal” path in life. It has taken me a long time to embrace that, rather than wonder if perhaps something is wrong with me. I never finished college, or had a “regular” 9-5 job, and honestly – even though I know that both were the right choices – I have felt a little insecure for a long time. Our society tells us we can’t be successful if we don’t do certain things, and that we aren’t successful if we don’t have certain things.
The truth is though, that we are not all meant for the same path!
Just because your life, and past, looks different than those around you does not mean that you are not (or can’t be) successful! Who decides what success is anyway?! I say, do what you love, follow your passions, and take the path that feels right for you!
Also, embrace your journey!
For so long, I was not only insecure about being on a different path than most of my peers, but also that I was not where I felt I should be. I have learned though that we cannot get stuck in this mindset of only focusing on what we don’t have – or haven’t accomplished. It is okay to not be where we want to be! We can choose to see the good in our present situations, while working toward what we want!
I do hope this post encourages you this week to embrace your journey, whatever it looks like! Choose to see the good in your present circumstances, and work hard toward the path that you know in your heart is the right one for you!
Love this!
