I don’t always blog about food, but well, we all have to eat right?! Healthy eating is extremely important for riders because, as I always say, we are athletes! These eating “healthy” is very complicated. What even is “healthy?” I think there are many different, and healthy, ways of eating. There is no one size fits all for everyone. I personally believe in eating real, whole, foods most of the time.
I eat a primarily plant based diet, although I do eat fish and eggs. I also eat gluten free, and dairy free, due to intolerances. It sounds complicated, and difficult, but it’s really not!!! I pretty much eat mostly whole foods, from the earth! It’s actually quite simple. Eating the way I eat has saved my health, and provides me with so much fuel for my active, equestrian lifestyle! I have also managed to eat the way I eat, while living a very busy life. However, I don’t think that everyone has to be a vegetarian in order to be healthy. I don’t think everyone has to go gluten free, or dairy free. I think that is important to research where your food comes from, and pay attention to how your body responds to certain foods, in order to make choices that work for you – ethically and health-wise!
That being said, next week I will be running a free 5 day clean eating group (Aug 21-Aug 25), over on Facebook. I will be sharing some of my favorite plant based recipes, as well as tips for eating healthy in general (without giving up gluten, or animal products)! It is a great way to get a jump start on eating better, have accountability, learn some new recipes, and it’s always fun to work together toward living healthier lives!
